Hi PMM, LEON, BCGUY, and others, as suggested by rupeshhari, I open this new thread to ask you guys a question about the ADAPTABILITY POINTS for the federal skill worker immigration application. The question is, I am currently working in a part time job, skill type B, 20 hrs/week, and I have been working there for 2 years. If I use this experience to apply for PR, I will get 15 points for the Experience factor since I got the 1 year full time experience, but will I also receive 5 points for the adaptability since one of the adaptability factor is "work 1 year full time in Canada"? In the Adaptability, it says "1 year full time", it does not say "1 year full time or part time equivalent", "continuous", nor specify the job has to be in skill type 0, A, or B, so I am not sure if I can get those 5 points. You can also refer to my previous thread and take a look at the conversation between rupeshhari and me. Thank you.

The manuals OP6 states 1 year of full time work. So it can't be 2 years of part time.

Yeah, strictly speaking, part time experience does not work here, but I just do not feel right if a guy work for 2 part time jobs at the same time in a position, like professor or any other high skill jobs, he will never get that 5 points for adaptability since part time experience never works here.

Actually you are right rupeshhari. The problem here is that for CEC, it says that the work experience has to be gained using the post graduated work permit and it states explicitly that work experience gained during co-op or using off-campus work permit does not count. So I do not think I can use CEC. I am using the off-campus work permit to work part time when I am doing my master. In fact, many master students are thinking to apply under CEC because they think the rule which CIC does not count the work experience under off-campus work permit is only apply to undergraduate studies and it may be different for people who are doing the master and actually gain the work experience after they obtain the bachelor degree. Thanks.

No, I do not know anyone apply PR under CEC using the work experience they gained during their post-graduate studies. I hope I can apply under CEC since it is faster than FSC. Right?

I think nobody knows how fast anything is right now. The CEC has not been around very long to have experience in how long it takes but I assume it would be similar to the PNP's and you can see the timeline for PNP's at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/04-provincial.asp

The goal is that FSW will take 6-12 months at some point in the future but we will see when they start actually passing something through how fast it will really be. I wouldn't be surprised it it was at the same level as the PNP's too but right now they have to work through the backlog of applications from february until november.

It's a question of what happens when it gets to Buffalo or other visa office, yes. An FSW category 1 is going first to Sydney before it goes to the visa office, category 2 and 3 are going straight to visa office. So is CEC and so is PNP after you get nominated. The question is if they are prioritized differently at the visa office or if they are all the same.

CEC is probably faster but like I said before, I may not qualify for that. I also heard that FSW may take longer since they put CEC as their first priority. Currently FSW is about 18 months, right?

The old FSW through Buffalo is something like 19 months but the new one is supposed to be faster.
