My relatives who did a short landing only showed a Goods to Follow list as they didn't leave their belongings in Canada yet. Just list the general groups and provide the subtotal for each group, eg Electronics $3000, Appliances $1000, Jewelry $2000, Toiletries $600, Clothes $500 etc.

Okay, thanks. Do they require any additional documents to provide proof to your totaling ? E.g. receipts for jewelry or electronics that you've declared to be equal to $6000 in total ?

I'm not sure about receipts, but a poster in another thread (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t440094.0.html;msg5347254#msg5347254) said:
"If you are plan on bringing jewelry and carpets (that is you have listed them on your goods to follow list) make sure you have all the pictures with you. The CIC website was not clear about that and it caused me some grief. Better to be prepared. So take printed pictures, the officer needs to stamp that for you to be able to bring them in duty and hassle free later."

Perhaps you could send them a PM if you need further clarification.
