I have a weird case here.
I’ve applied for a TRV Visitors Visa on Dec 2022 and got the application approved and visa stamped on my Syrian passport on April 2023.
Stamped visa is V1 multi-entry valid until 30-Apr-2024 (that's one day before the expiry of my passport).
Recently I renewed my passport (ahead of time of expiry) then got a 5-years Schengen visa on the new passport as well.
I then looked up online if I can enter Canada with my still-valid visa on my older passport, and found the IRCC article confirming that point (must carry both passports), and recommending to apply for a new visa to have it on the new passport and avoid the hassle at the Canadian ports.
And so I did. I applied last month on Jan 2024 for a TRV, and got a rejection!
Of course I’ve submitted all the supporting documents including the active Canadian visa on my older passport.
During the waiting time and before the rejection, I’ve booked non-refundable return flight tickets and paid for multiple accommodations in Canada for two weeks on early March (next month) assuming I have the active visa on my older passport anyway.
But now I’m so confused whether I could still enter Canada while there’s a recent rejection on the new application.
Does the recent rejection affect the validity of my visa on older passport?
Do border agents look into such detail while assessing me?
Thanks a lot
