Hi,

I need your help and advise in how can i sponsor my husband , however , we are both in kuwait . I am a canadian citizin and he is jordaian.

I have asked a lawer and he suggested to go to canada before without my husband, get a jop and have an address to proof that i am in canada and sponsoring my husband and apply for my husband's PR. But i am not looking forward leaving each other and i am planning to apply for him while i am in kuwait with him. Is there such asolution !????

Thanks

Since you are a citizen you may sponsor your husband from abroad. There is no income requirements for spousal sponsorship. you will fill out all the paper work but when gathering all your information and evidence you will have to put together a settlement plan. A settlement plans is your plan on how you intend to relocate to Canada once your spouse receives his visa. It could/should include... letters from friends and family stating they know of your intentions to move to Canada once the process is complete, letter from friends or family that you will be staying with them once you arrive in Canada until you get on your feet, e-mails for quotes for shipping your belongs to Canada, e-mails from realtors where you have inquired about renting or purchasing a house, e-mail inquiries about jobs and/or schooling in Canada and anything else that you may thinkin would prove your intentions. Good Luck!

Thanks alot for your reply. so basically he will get a visa them a PR ?! And am i suppose to be working or studying ?!!! Can u link me plz the website that has the applications for my case ?!!!

You can sponsor from wherever you are. You have to fill out all of the forms and include all of the documents listed in the checklist. Once you pay the fee (which you can do online), you send everything to Mississauga for sponsorship approval. If you are approved, the documents are sent back to where you are living for approval for your spouse. The entire process can take anywhere from a few months to many months depending on where you are. You can find all of the information, forms, and requirements on the CIC website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp). If your husband's application is successful, the Canadian embassy will ask for his passport. They will attach a visa. At that point to have a specified amount of time to land in Canada so the PR status can take effect (this is either when the medical has run out - so a year - or when his passport expires, whichever comes first).

He will need to undergo a medical exam done by an approved doctor (the list is on the CIC website), have a police clearance from anywhere he has lived for more than 6 months in the last so many years, have proof of your relationship in the form of pictures and other documents, marriage certificate, birth certificates, divorce certificates (if either of you had been married previously) etc.

You do not need to be working or studying, the financial information is not applicable to spouse visas. You do, however, have to prove that you have the intent to settle in Canada once and if the visa is granted.

Hi again,

In the applications that i am filling , there are alot of questions i have to provide about proofing that i am in canada and intending to live there, however, i am not in canada now and i am willing to go with my husband together and settle down.

And also for the health documentation, they asked for file number and i dont know what is that and how to get it???

Any suggestions please

Appreciated,

Isra

Hey Isra,

As a citizen you can file the PR application from outside of Canada. there is a place where you can tick "living exclusively outside of Canada" - and then you have to explain that you will indeed move to Canada once the PR for your husband is approved. It is not enough to say that you will - you need proofs of that. See the list from the previous answers for an idea of where to start.

For the medicals - you need to choose a doctor ( well it's your husband that needs the medical exam, not you) on the DMP list from CIC, here it is if you are in Kuwait: http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=2008&CountryName=Kuwait in Kuwait you only have one choice, so your husband needs to get an appointment there, and go with the forms ( in the application package, you will see there is a form for that + a number of pictures - call ahead the DMP and ask exactly what they need).
Once your husband has done the medical exam, the DMP will give him a copy of the form, and that's the one that you add to your application. You will not have the results themselves, but just the proof that the medicals have been done. You need to include that in your application. also - it's best to leave the medicals until you are almost ready to send your file, as they expire after one year, so you want to leave them for the "end" - once you know that you have all the rest of the papers. (same applies for the police certificate - CIC needs to receive them within 3 months of them being issued, so you need to work on the application taking that into consideration).

Good luck with preparing your application, and don't hesitate to ask if something is not clear,

Apprecited big time , that was helpful.

What about the applications that i am filling, they are asking me about my address and how to prove our intention in staying in canada.
Am i filling the wrong applications or am i in the right track ??

Thanks again :)

I'm not sure - you need to find the forms that are for "outland applications". Go there http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/index.asp, and then choose"if you are applying from outside of Canada" - Sponsor your family. It's important to make sure that you have the right forms! :-) you need to download everything, including the "region specific guidelines". My advice is to download everything, print the guidelines and the forms, and start filling it out manually - it will also give you an idea of what to prepare in terms of proofs etc.... and all the information you need. Once you have a bit of an overview you can get a "plan" on how to do it, and start filling out the forms electronically....

It took us about 3 months to get everything together, proofs etc... so be prepared! We had no dinner table for 3 months as it was permanently covered with all CIC papers.. but it's worth it at the end!
Good luck,
