Hello,
I would like to ask does someone has information about the status of residence and the length of absence from Canada. Specific example: Can we get into the country for a week after approving the express entry procedure, and then get back to ours for a while. How long we can be outside from the country- one year or ? Is it possible at all?
Apologies if I ask not very well this question but if someone want to help me I’ll try to explain clearly.
Thank you

This has been discussed so many times on here.

You have a residency obligation to reside in Canada for 2 years out of the first 5 years from your initial landing. After that the 5 years becomes a rolling 5 years where you need to show 2 years in the time before each new entry.

So in theory from first landing you could stay away for near 3 years but then you would need to stay 2 years without leaving after that. The longer you stay away from the initial landing then always chance of getting scrutiny from CBSA, although as a PR you would always be entitled to enter the country.

People do soft landings all the time staying for a week or few weeks just to sort out PR card application, SIN and bank accounts so is a pretty standard thing to do.

Also note that you will need a valid PR card or PRTD to return to Canada by plane.
