Hi,

i did my MS from US. while studying, i also worked 20 hours per week in school. it was a paid job. can this experience be counted for Canada Immigration Skilled worked category ? i mean like 2 year half time equal to 1 year full time?

thanks

Yes it will be counted (considering that most of the on campus jobs fall into one of the job categories of Canada). For two years part time jobs it will be counted as approximate 1 year.

Just my opinion! You may refer the CIC website for more information.

Only if it was in skill levels A,B or O of the NOC.

Thanks PMM, Does "Graduate Technical Assistant" (my half time job) falls under the categories to be considered ?

One more question, i have about 3 years full time experience with a big company in US i worked for in the past. for experience evidence, i can provide the offer letter, the pay record and tax documents. so will this be enough....or reference letter is a requirement. i dont have a reference letter since the company doesnt give reference letters....but i can try to provide some reference names with emails & phone numbers.

so will this be enough since my offer letter only mentioned my initial title and not the details of all my responsibilities while i was there?

thanks

1. Find your job description in the NOC http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc-CNP/app/index.aspx?lc=e Then check the Matrix http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc-CNP/docs/Matrix_Poster_English.pdf to find the skill level
2. No, you need a reference letter that states your job duties, or else CHC will probably dismiss your experience.

Hi!

Also check if you can get into Canada through the new program introduced in Alberta.

Good luck.
