I got supply in my current semester and the course of supply is not available in next semester. I cannot continue my program without passing this supply. What can i do now ?

Means i failed in a subject. And that subject is not available in next semester. But according to college i cannot proceed my program without passing in that subject. That means i have to take a semester off and start again in january. Is this drop official or not.
