Hello everyone, my name is Diego.

I sent together my wife sponsorship and my application inland for the PR as they state but I have a doubt. Past year, I extended my stay as visitor till this year March 30th. I saw that even if my visitor status expires this month, I would be fine unless the application is refused. But at the same time, I been reading the opposite, that I should renew the time meanwhile waiting till the sponsorship is approved since the PR application alone(No OWP application sent) won't grant implied status and I would be in trouble otherwise. It is really confusing me.

Should I apply for the time extension or I would be fine without it? The 100$ fee for the extension could be very hard to pay right now, so trying to figure it out.

The OWP together with the inland application gives you status, not the actual inland PR application alone. So you either need to apply for the OWP ($255 total cost) or the visitor extension. Then you will be on implied status until whichever one comes through. IMO, just get the OWP, they seem to give at least a year validity, and with the added bonus you can work if you want.
