Hi everyone:

It has been a long time since I visited this forum; however, a close friend of mine is about to send out her application this upcoming Friday, and, naturally, having undergone this process myself, I am helping her with advice (obviously free of charge).

I have noticed that the document checklist is different these days. I was applying for CEC in November 2013, and requirements for letters of employment I believe were a little bit different. So anyways, I have 3 specific questions:

1. Does she need to provide Letters of Employment from her part time job that is definitely not NOC 0, A or B? When I was applying I provided letters from every single job regardless of what NOC it was, but now, as I am reading the Document Checklist it clearly says "employers reference letters for all periods of qualifying work experience you identify in your application"... So do they only ask for a letter of employment for the QUALIFYING experience? No need to get a letter from her part time job that she is not listing as a NOC job?

2. Police Certificates... I honestly cannot remember how long they lasted last year. If I am not mistaken, I got mine (from Ukraine) 2 weeks before the application, is there a limitation period now? The one she has is dated September 3, 2014. I assume it is fine to be sent?

3. Does she need a PCC from Canada? I did provide one in my application but I definitely remember it was not necessary...

Thank you so much!!! Let's help others get their PR's!

Yours truly,

Police certificates cannot be more than three months old at the time they are received by CIC. This has been the rule for quite some time now and it hasn't changed. No - no PCC from Canada required.

1) Provide details for qualifying period only.. no need to send reference letters (which includes NOC codes and job description etc) from non-qualifying job offers..

2) Usually most PCCs are valid for a year so the requirement is to send a PCC which within the last three months.. if there is a delay in application processing and PCC has expired then new will be requested by CIC.

3) Even tho i did provide PCC and finger prints from Canadian police but i believe these are not required as has been suggested by many seniors here.. i read guidelines on some thread and it mentioned it is not required for Canada.

The Employer Letter for qualifying period would suffice .

It should be issued within 3 months the time it reaches to CIC .

3. Does she need a PCC from Canada? I did provide one in my application but I definitely remember it was not necessary...

Nope until requested by CIC

Ok so the PCC from Ukraine, dated September 4th, 2014, is better not to send now, the problem arises, to get a new one will take a month! Is it still possible to send an application without PCC with a letter of explanation and promise to provide one after AOR? Or even send the one she has with a letter of explanation and promise to get a fresh one?

No letter from part-time job, which is good!

Yes, you can send the application without PCC and submit it at a later time after you get the AOR. I did the same :)

Ask your friend to write a letter stating that she will be sending the PCC at a later time. No need to mention the current PCC.

But PCC from September 4th, cannot be used at this time.

Okay the very last question... Should she write a letter of explanation for the absence of PCC or no? If her application gets returned because of its absence, it will suck cuz Express Entry is not fun... ;D ;D ;D

Oh, no worries, bro, it is not me who's applying, I have been done with my PR application for 4 months now, it is my close friend, she's gonna have to write it herself... ;D ;D ;D Thank you for offering though...

The document checklist also says that PCC can be submitted at a later date :) So it's all good.

Thanks you so much guys!!!

Not to create another separate thread for my question:

In the SCHEDULE 8 ECONOMIC CLASSES: there is a question that I believe has been changes since last year (I might be mistaken): Have you previously worked in Canada on a full-time (equivalent) basis? - Yes/No

I clearly remember that when I applied I said YES since I thought it was asking me about my CEC 12 months of experience, now more than 1 year later I am reading it and since it is not my application and I feel even more responsible "previously" confuses me a lot... Do they mean previously to CEC experience? Or do they ask about CEC experience? What do you guys check these days?

All jobs have NOCs, but if you mean it was not skilled - correct, no need for a Letter of Employment.

Just barely. It can't be older than 3 months at the time you apply. I expect that CIC would accept this, tho. I would say submit it. If CIC wants a new one, they will tell her.

3. Does she need a PCC from Canada?

No.

You should be aware that there is a statement (in the wrong place) on the CIC website that the cap has been reached.

Your friend can go ahead and submit the application. But if the cap has been reached, it will be returned. She can reapply under express entry...

I agree it is poorly worded, but yes, that refers to the CEC experience.
