So having applied inland for common-law sponsorship....my partner (the sponsor) and I have been having some difficulties. We're trying to work through things but being honest, it's not clear yet if we will stay together.
If we were to separate then understandably the sponsorship application would then be cancelled (by us).
I applied for and received an open work permit as an inland sponsorship applicant. This work permit is valid until the summer 2019.
My delicate question is maybe becoming obvious.... I am trying to determine if the sponsorship application is cancelled, does the open work permit become invalidated or would it still remain valid until the expiry date in 2019?
I hope this doesn't come across as a selfish question, this is simply a matter of practicalities and the fact that I uprooted my life and career to move here and have now made this my home regardless of the relationship with my partner. It is also obviously something which I wouldn't want to ask to Canadian Immigration.
