I have been waiting for my visa office to send a correspondence. Last correspondence we received from them was on August 5th, 2009 and we got the AOR. Then, in the letter it said we need to wait until October 30 and if we don't get a response by then we need to contact directly.

The problem is our lawyer doesn't want us to contact the visa office right now. He wants us to wait for another week or two and then if we don't receive anything the lawyer himself will get in touch.

I am worried. Why do you think they didn't send anytthing by the October 30 deadline? Does this mean bad news?

I think it is better to wait for another couple of weeks and then start contacting them.

By the way, do they give details like those ( if you do not hear from us within 90 days, contact us) in the AOR letter from the local visa office ?
because our visa office Buffalo does not state any information in that regard at all in the AOR, i think you are lucky people with your visa offices.

have a look at our AOR letter form Buffalo it doesn not have any helpful details :(general and not that informative)

Dear Applicant:

This is to advise you that your application for permanent residence has been received at the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo, New York and that a file has been created for you. Your file number appears above. Please note that this file number is different from the one that was assigned to you by the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. You must quote this new file number in any future correspondence.

Before your application can be placed in processing, a determination will be made as to whether or not you are eligible for processing. If your application is not eligible for processing, you will receive a letter informing you of the reasons for the decision as well as a refund.

Thank you so much for your reply. I totally hear you. Well some visa offices around the world does give a 90 days deadline. Here is what it says in my AOR from Japan visa office.

Application for Permanent Residence in Canada in the category that you have applied will be expected to take 12 months on average at this office. If you have not received ANY CORRESPONDENCE FROM THIS OFFICE BY 30 OCTOBER 2009, YOU ARE REQUESTED TO CONTACT THIS OFFICE DIRECTLY.

So, I don't understand why my lawyer still insists on waiting for another two weeks? is it because maybe the mail delivery takes time? Or do they just want to make sure everything is okay? I really hope I don't hear any bad news soon.

Patience is the key I guess.

I think you should listen to your lawyer. If he is a good lawyer he would know how to best handle the case. It is human nature to be impatient and to start worrying about things when they do not happen the way we "want" them to happen.

Hi to everyone,
here are the wordings of my AOR below.

Processing time:

I applied as a skilled worker under category 1.

Applications for residence in Canada in this category that you have applied to require on average 18 months to process at this office. If you have not received any instructions from this office by (Date) you are requested to contact this office directly.

I know that with the new system it takes 1 year for the application to be processed, when the visa office talked of !8 months on average i was a little confused.

I have two questions.

1) Does the 1 Year include the time you sent your application to Nova Scotia? If so then soon my application will be one year and i have not heard anything from t he visa office apart from the AOR i got from visa office.

2) Can i contact them after like 6 month After AOR or i have to wait for the 18 months before contacting them? The waiting time is painful.

Waiting for a response.

Canadaforall.
