I am Gr12 currently enrolled in highschool and will be graduating in June. I got accepted to university back in Septemver and receieved my study/work permit with my SIN number.

I was not informed that I cannot work before my university starts, and I've been working in fast food for 2 months now. I had no problem with my SIN number and VISA yet, and no notice from the gov either. I did quit my job as soon as I realized however it is illegal to work at first placr and this can even lead to deportation.

Some advices peiple gave me was that I should just wait for a mail from Canadian gov demanding leave from the country - but I feel like I need to do something beforehand.

I found out about this website while googling and have seen that some people were in similar situation as mine, but I never found out what happened to them at the end.

I don't know what I need to do now. If anyone have any info/similar cases please help

While in secondary school you are not allowed to work at all, that condition should be on the bottom of your study permit stating:

May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186(f), (v) or (w).

They do not specify it in plain language on the permit or on the study permit approval letter. It was your responsibility to look up what those conditions mean. But I guess you know that now.

Can you confirm you already have a new permit or extension has been granted for your upcoming University program?
