Hi there,

I became a PR in 2012. I was still studying when I obtained PR status. I moved to Canada after my studies in 2015. My PR Card expired this year and I need to renew it. However, I am confused with the days calculator. I have been absent for more than 1095 days but present for more than 730 days according to the Physical Presence calculator. So, am I elligbel to renew my PR card? Note: I have lived and worked permanently in Canada since 2015 and filed taxes.

1095 days+ 730 days = 1825 days, or exactly 5 years. Five years is the period being looked at. How can you possibly have been both absent over 1095 days, and present 730 days within five years? (You can't have been both of them - one is wrong).

If you have lived and worked in Canada without leaving since 2015, then you are almost certainly eligible to renew (it's theoretically possible that you're not currently able to, if you were absent the entire 3 years prior to that, and landed in November/December 2015 - then, you would have to wait a month or two from now).

Thank you for the response. Okay I see where the confusion comes in as the Physical Presence calculator said "number of years physically present in last 6 years" is 927 days. So my question is: In order to calculate the 730 days, Should I calculate the days as of the date 5 years prior to the date the application is made or 5 years from the date that I became a PR ?

5 years prior to the application date.

FYI - the residency calculator you're using is for citizenship.

Oh Okay. Thank you very much for your response. One last thing, is there a Physical Presence calculator for PR? Of not, should I just calculate it myself ?

No - there isn't. You need to calculate it yourself.
