I'm American and I need to go stay with my Canadian girlfriend as long as possible. She has a disability where she's sometimes too sick to get out of bed by herself to use the restroom and get food.
So I'm wanting to get a one-way return ticket for maybe 5 months and 3 weeks. Would trying to stay nearly the max I'm allowed make border officers worry that I'll want to illegally overstay? Is there much risk of that getting me denied entry?
Also if I mention the purpose of me staying so long is to be a caregiver for my girlfriend, will that help me get in, or actually have the opposite effect by making them worry that I'm being paid and working illegally in Canada? (My mom will be putting money for food into my debit card account each month.)
Thanks
