I don't get it.
You have no job, looking for a room for 500-600 bucks with no job, and asked if you can get a mortgage w/o a job.
If you want to rent a vacation rental you might be lucky to get one but no for 600 bucks a month.... not here in Van (as far as I'm concerned). The housing market in Van and the lower Mainland in general is out of control and people are asking for big bucks to rent so they can afford their mortgage. (Unless you're a student from China....they can afford whatever ---> The Province)
If you want to rent a room for a longer period they'll ask you about what sort of job you're doing and I'm sure they'll ask for a credit check....
As a Landlord I would not rent to you, too risky.
