5 year Canadian Visa

My parents are planning to apply for the 5 year Canadian Tourist Visa. The problem is that my mom’s passport will expire in 2 years. So what will happen to the visa? Will they transfer it to the new passport after expiration?

No. For starters, the visa validity and entry type is chosen by the officer. You cannot choose what type to apply for.

The visas will only be issued for as long the passport is valid, so if your mom submits this current passport, her TRV will only be valid for 2 years, so you might want to consider renewing her passport if it is possible.
