Hi,
I got banned to Canada during my TRV application. I applied for a conference to present my research paper. The reason stated, ' The invitation letter seems fraudulent'. As it is clear that the invitation letter is issued by the conference authority, but the action involved punishing me a ban of 5 years. I did apply again in 2 months for study permit to check whether the ban was in operation and got refused. I had a contact of a Canadian professor working closely with the consulate and so he inquired for me and got the answer that there is only legal way to solve this matter.
I am wondering whether there is any chance to overturn the ban due to "seemingly fraudulent inviting authority". I already checked with the electronic notes and they weren't satisfied the authenticity of the invitation letter. If so, how much can it cost to start a legal process?
Just further information, after the ban I did get visa to Japan successfully and now I am working in Japan. So, my conclusion is the ban does not necessarily affect Visa for every country, certainly not for japan.

You basically had 30 days to contest the PFL. After that, the opportunity to appeal is pretty much closed. You could try to get federal court to review it, but expect to pay somewhere in the neighbourhood of $5 K for the whole process, if allowed.

Also be aware that if you are asked on other countries' visa applications about visa refusals or bans and you do not declare the Canadian ban, you may be in for some trouble.
