Hi

I am 42 years of age and I am considering moving to Canada from Ireland

I have an Aunt and a Uncle who are Canadian residents but both are in there late 60's and retired. Not sure they would have the 'money' to sponsor me is this the only major stipulation?

I was looking at the one year visa but this only applies to people who are between the age of 18-30. Is this correct or can you get a 1 year visa if you are over 30?

My area of speciality is Funds(Citco / Northern Trust) & I have seen positions advertised for companies in Novia Scotia - Halifax and also in Toronto. I do not have a trade.

Can anyone advise as to what my best options would be?

Cheers

Your uncle and aunt cannot sponsor you through family class immigration. It isn't a money/income issue. It simply isn't allowed.

There is no working holiday visa available for someone your age.

Your best (likely only) option is to qualify to immigrate as a skilled worker. Based on your profession, you'll very likely need a job offer in Canada to qualify to apply. You should start by familiarizing yourself with the various skilled worker immigration streams available. They are outlined here (you should take a look at the federal program, the quebec program and the provincial nominee programs):

Thanks for that

Thought my options were limited but was not sure about the sponsorship option thought with relations there it may help

Will give the Quebec and Novia Scotia a call to discuss and see what they have to say

Cheers

This is incorrect - the skilled worker category is NOT closed. They are still accepting applications for people who have a valid offer of arranged employment in Canada or are enrolled in/graduated from a Canadian PhD program:
