3rd year International student in Canada, taking a year off for work.

Hey Guys,

I am a 3rd year International student studying at University of Toronto. I have taken a year(or two) off because of Financial issues.

I have 10 months of work experience in Canada as a Software Developer and Sales associate for various stores in Toronto and a Total work ex of 12 months. I have lived in Canada for 2.5 years and wanted to know if I can apply for a Canadian Express entry visa(Canadian Experience class/Skilled worker etc.).

Other important info -
1. Completed 2 years at a Canadian University(going into 3rd).
2. Have a Study permit valid till 2022.
3. Currently working as a remote Software Developer for a company in New York.

Any advice will be appreciated!

Work experience gained while you are a student in Canada doesn't count under CEC.
You could be in breach of your study permit conditions if you stopped actively studying, and taking time off study could have negative effect if you want to apply for PGWP after you graduate.
