Hope anyone can give me some advice on my situation,

My Canadian wife is sponsoring me (from Quebec), we are doing the outland procedure ( she in Canada and I'm abroad) and she sent our package on the 3rd of March 2011. We included all the necessary documents, proof of marriage, photos, the forms, medicals, I mean we doubled checked everything and we even sent more than we should basically.

The thing is we haven't heard from Mississauga at all, we sent our package 3 months ago and its been more than the specified time, on the CIC website it's around 44 days to process, but its been way more than that. When we call the call centre and all they say is that its still being processed.. I mean its really frustrating.. Our case isn't that complicated,it's straight forward, I've never lived in any other country besides mine, never did military service or worked for the government, never travelled that much basically, had 1 job my entire life. So I just don't get it why this delay. And my wife works, she can "support" me, she sent proof of that, and we got married in Quebec while I was there in holidays.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks for your time!

Our approval from CPC-M took 81 days, and this is when it was taking 32 days (we applied in Feb) because my husband receives a disability subsidy from the province of ON. The Call Centre personnel said it was in processing that long because they required some paperwork from the provincial office that deals with such things, and it took a while for the request to be answered. Does your wife receive anything like that?

She applied for a student loan, because she started University. Maybe because of that?I dont know, gives me hope at least knowing that it can take this long. I was starting to think that they lost my application or something. Well fingers crossed!

Thanks for your reply :)

no student loan is not considered welfar or a big no no (I am a previous student and i have already checked that out)

Call the Call center..this wait is not normal.
I have seen a few others complain abt this and usually their case has been to reapply..better call rightaway and confirm that they have your application as ECAS should say N/A as the sponsorship was not approved yet..
check soon

all the best.

Another suggestion is for your wife in Canada to contact the MP (member of parliament) in her area to see if they will help, based on the fact its been so long.....

Not sure if the MP can help with sponsorship, they can inquire abt the PR application ( which they did twice for me..sponsorship not sure )
They can only play a role when the PR process has begun as in just inquiring if you have a delay.

Our lawyer told us that the student loan wouldn't be a problem, so I don't see why this delay.
We've called the call center like 6 times now and all they say is that its still in process to wait a couple more weeks, we tried to check e-cas with our receipt number but nothing, doesn't show anything at all, I heard when you are applying from Quebec you don't have this option of checking through e-cas.

Anymore ideas guys?

Thanks all for your replies!

Hi, I think you can only start checking the e-cas once your file has been received and the processing began, then you will be given an client id number. Just be patient, it will happen for you, the processing datelines are not very accurate or reliable.

Hope you're right, I guess all I have to do is wait even knowing that this wait of 3months its not normal at all. I'll try to call them again in 2 weeks if I haven't received anything.

Thanks!

Just keep calling, and try asking the Call Centre rep if they can tell you what the hold up is. As my husband was the sponsor, he was able to find out what the holdup was, and they would tell him to call back in a week and check. Finally, he checked and they said he should expect the letter, he had been approved and the file transferred.

Okay, I'll tell my wife to call them tomorrow and see if they can say what's the holdup.

Thanks for your reply!

Keep calling. You could find someone who can help you.

ECAS is updated ONLY when the sponsorship decision has been made.

My wife called today (again) to ask about what was the hold up about, and they said they would check what was going on, and we should call in 2 weeks to know whats going on basically..frustrating..really frustrating.. :(

Just cause they say two weeks, doesn't mean you have to wait until then. My husband would call once a week on Monday, then finally we got the word the exact same day it was done.
