3-month-wait OHIP question [BC MSP > OHIP ]

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the 3 month wait before the OHIP coverage will begin. Would appreciate it if you could answer.

I am moving from BC to Ontario. I thought that I would need to wait for exactly 3 months until my coverage begins (for example, if I arrive in Ontario on March 31, my OHIP will begin at the end of June). However, the representative from BC MSP told me my OHIP will begin right on June 1, and will only extend my BC MSP coverage to be used during the transition until end of May.

Has anyone here moved from BC to ON before? Could you confirm if it's true that you don't need to live exactly 90 days at least in Ontario?

I think the MSP agent misunderstood your situation. MSP provides coverage for the month you leave BC plus two months. You can also apply for a three month extension. If you time your arrival to Ontario for the first of the month, you will have a seamless transition from BC MSP to OHIP.

This is exactly what I understood from the MSP website. However, the agent stated otherwise.

No, I live in BC. I had called MSP on another matter, two different agents gave me contradiction information. You should call MSP again, point out to them where you find the info on their wed site.
