Hi,
I have a couple of questions/concerns about spousal sponsorship.

I am the sponsor. My spouse is here on a work-permit. We were married in 2007 and he has been with me in Canada since 2006.

We have all the necessary "proof" to establish that our relationship is genuine.

My questions:
1) I previously sponsored my ex-spouse to come to canada and our marriage dissolved for various reasons about 1 1/2 years after he landed in Canada. The fact that i sponsored my ex-spouse and then we were divorced, will this have any implications on sponsoring my new spouse now?

2) My spouse was charged with assult (domestic) and the charges were withdrawn. My spouse was drunk and we had a bad argument and he slapped me and the police charged him and the charges were withdrawn and we are together now but he is on a peacebond for one year to get counselling and to refrain from alcohol.... but we are able to be together. Will this incident have any negative effect on the sponsorship application? How should we go about explaining this in the application?

Any advise or help would be apprecaited.

Thanks

I don't think the previous sponsorship matters if enough time has passed. You are responsible for the previous spouse for 3 years after he becomes PR. After that I don't think it matters at all.

With the new spouse, as long as charges were dropped, it's probably fine.
