Hi to all Reading,

I am new to this blog and I am very happy to read so much and many useful information with regard to
Canada and Immigrations.

I have a question & I hope people with good knowledge would be able to clear my doubt on this. I arrived in Canada on December 2013 and I am still hearing about the legislation about the off campus work permit to students have not been approved, where students can work as soon as they are here without waiting for 6 Months.

I know students have to be registered onto a full time PG-D / Degree program more than a year ( Mine is a 2 year Program ).

I would really appreciate if someone could guide me on this, weather or not I am eligible to work or have to stay for 6 months till I apply for off campus work permit.

Many thanks and feels good to be amongst a group of professionals.

You need to Study Full time For Six Months to Apply for Off Campus Work Permit.. In the Present Situation you are not Eligible to Work.

You have to Study For Six Months.. and the Another 45 Days for Approval of Work Permit.

I hope its Clear now.

By "study full time for six months" WaseemWasii actually means study full time for six months. If you start school on monday and your semester ends in april and you have a break over the summer and start again in September, then NOVEMBER is when you can apply for the OCWP.

Exactly Right :)

I THINK YOU CAN APPLY IN APRIL AS SET-NOV MAKES 3 MONTHS AND JANUARY TO MARCH MAKES 3 MONTHS SO YOU CAN APPLY IN APRIL

There is no need to SCREAM.

Semesters usually run 4 months. Jan through april, september through december. In my case, I started september 3. I can apply for OCWP, march 3.

If I started Jan, 6 and studied through april, have a summer break and start again in September. My application date would be Nov 6.

If I started Jan 6 and my second semester starts in May, I would be able to apply in July.
