dont panic! the new 20000 cap is reducing the applications by half and not more.
see the link- the 2008 statistics show there were 40729 principal applicants cleared. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/facts2008/permanent/22.asp

Hello Vicky1, How did you get that 40729 number? I don't see it.

Shouldn't it be (11172+29060+17092) but these people would include those with AEO and the other category that was taken out recently.

On the 20000 cap! thread, LEON found the following link for the stats: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/facts2009/permanent/01.asp

The CAP is only on the FSW - 1 immigrants who have 1 year continuous experience and as per the statistics they have made it to half (1/2)

This statistic is for successful applicants under SW-1 so far.

Category 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009

Skilled workers - principal applicants 52,269 44,161 41,251 43,360 40,729

And it is only on successful applicants.

Note: If you are applying under one of the 29 eligible occupations, as of June 26, 2010, a maximum of 20,000 Federal Skilled Worker applications will be considered for processing in the following 12 months. Within the 20,000 cap, a maximum of 1,000 Federal Skilled Worker applications per eligible occupation will be considered for processing each year.

These limits do not apply to applications with an offer of arranged employment.

Hi,
Does it mean they are going to process the
cases of 2004 and 2005 during 2010.
