Hi Everyone!

I've just filled out my express entry profile.

Whilst working in Canada I worked in a movie theatre as a projectionist. BUT I also did a lot of shifts as an usher. Both of these are very different NOC codes...

I was originally going to apply for CEC but an immigration lawyer told me (over a year ago now) my Projection shifts were not regular enough to be called 'Full time'.
I've tried to reflect this in my EE profile by adding the job twice with the same dates but then the different job titles and NOC codes and different hours worked.I made a guess of around 10 hours Projectionist and 30 Usher. Do you think that was the correct thing to do? Or will it confuse whoever picks up my file?

Basically Projectionist is skill B and usher is skill C or D so I want to show I was a projectionist (I also worked as one in the UK too)... but I also wanted to be honest that i wasn't doing only that full time.

Thanks for you advice!

Tough call. I can't tell you not to be honest but if the position was fluid enough then maybe you're over-thinking this a bit. Did your position call for a strict distinction between working as a projectionist for X number of hours and as an usher for Y number of hours? If not, then I think you should speak with your employer and discuss what your position really was. It could be that you were hired as a projectionist and that's what your job was, with other duties to go along with your position. Maybe it was the other way around (hired as an usher, with some shifts where you performed other duties). But that's something your employer needs to clarify in the LOR. In other words, have a conversation with the employer and proceed accordingly. Keep in mind that only NOC 0, A and B experiences count, as you're already aware. Best wishes.

Hello,

This is very good advice thank you! Maybe you are right and I am over thinking it... I am so paranoid about doing anything wrong!!

My payslips did split the jobs up... I'm not sure why... I *think* I got paid the same amount for each job.
Do you have to supply payslips? Can you just have a letter from your employer saying you worked there and what hours you did and what your job involved? Is any more proof needed?

Also, I put every job I've had on my EE profile (except 2, which I only had for a short amount of time). Do I only need to have skill level 0, A and B jobs? Can I leave my C and D job out? I just put everything on incase they wondered what I was doing in the gaps it would create.

Thank you!!

If your payslips split the jobs up then proceed accordingly. Here's CIC's official guide on what to show -

Document: Employment Records
You must provide proof of work experience for your current job and for each past position you listed. Proof must include a reference letter from your employer and pay stubs, if you have them. The reference letter must:
• be an official document printed on company letterhead
• include your name, the company’s contact information (address, telephone number and e-mail address), the signature of your immediate
• show all positions held while employed at the company
• include these details: job title, duties/responsibilities, job status (if current job), the dates you worked for the company, the number of work hours per week and your annual salary plus benefits.
You must scan all documents for this period of employment and save them as one file. (You must create a separate file for each period of employment.)

As to listing all the jobs, that's unnecessary and frankly will be a pain once and if you get ITA. I suggest you just stick with skill level 0, A and B jobs that you can verify with the above-described documents. You can fill in the gaps in the "personal history" section of your eAPR form once you get ITA. Don't worry about gaps right now.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi,

This helps a LOT, thank you.

Especially as the company one of the skill level C/D jobs I have listed right now no longer exists...!

I will update my EE profile and do as you said with personal history.

-Thanks again! ;D
