What does MP exactly stand for? I assume it is someone who works for CIC and can help with questions. How do you find who your MP is and how do you get in contact with them to ask questions or sit down and talk with them?
Stands for Minister of Parliament. Do a Google search for MP and enter your or your sponsor's postal code in the box on the MP website and it will bring up the MP responsible for the area you or your sponsor lives in.
Then call the number provided. Ask to do an inquiry about immigration. You have to be over normal processing and not had requests for extra/missing/or inaccurately submitted documents.
If they feel you are indeed over normal processing they will set up an appointment for you or your sponsor to come into the office and file an inquiry.
They can get more information than just "in process" and they always answer an email from MPs office. Where I sent 3 emails with no answer.
Hope this helps.

Good to hear that they requested your husband's passport, good luck with everything!
Thankssssss Good luck to you

tulsabean: You might get your COPR before GCMS notes as it takes about a month for those...but good to do just in case, and only costs $5.

katester: MP = Member of Parliament (Canada's national legislature). Once you find out what 'riding' (electoral district) you are in you can easily find out who is the MP. Just call their office and ask how it works to get an appointment, based on your request. Good luck.

I never ended up ordering the notes. I'm too impatient to wait 30 days I went directly to MP :)
