Hello,

I have work experience from 2 different jobs, one in NOC 1112 and another in NOC 6235. How do I go about choosing an occupation for CEC for the purpose of determining the "cap" obstacle? Please advise.

Thanks

I'm under NOC 1112...seems like there's not much applicants compared to some (based on my anecdotal assessment from the shared trackers).
Also, NOC 1112 is under Skill Level A, which I "think" is not as "popular". The CIC website only lists the cap for Class B.

That's a good question. It doesn't seem fair that a single application that (for example) claims experience in five different NOC B occupations should add 1 to the application counter of each of those occupations.

The CIC instructions don't explain what happens in such cases. However, there's probably nothing you as an applicant can do to influence the process. The CEC application doesn't have a concept of a 'preferred' or 'main' NOC code.

What we do know is, once a NOC B occupation's sub-cap has been filled, subsequent CEC applications can no longer claim any experience in that occupation.

If you sum up the number of NOC B applications received, it is about equal to the number of non-NOC B applications (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/applications-accepted.asp).

But, that's neither here nor there. All applications regardless of NOC level are counted in the 12,000 cap.

I may just have an answer to my own question! :P :)

I figured if the cap for one of the NOC codes under which an applicant applies, has reached at the time the application is received by CIO, then probably the applicant will have less than one year of work experience required to qualify for CEC. And in this case the application will be refused by the CIO officer.
