Hi Guys, got confused with work experience requirement for CEC, on the website, it says "have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply".

I got my post-graduation work permit on March, 2013, start my current job in May, 2013, however, my graduation ceremory is Nov, 2013 (Yeah, they issued me post-graduation work permit before my ceremory). I heard stories about CEC work experience is counting from the day you graduated, however, I didn't find that information on CIC's website.

So, in my case, when should I start applying? Next May or November?

work experience with a post graduate work permit is counted. applicants who using off campus/co-op work permit to obtain/start work experience before their post graduate work permit issued, that period doesn't count. Work experience starts from the date you started working while you holding a post graduate work permit.

However, If I were you, I would apply July or August. some officers make a mistake on calculating work experience and it is always better you have more than 1 year experience.

According to me: May 2014 should be fine... because then you will have completed one full year of work experience on PGWP.

Seniors pls confirm... :)

Thanks guys. It looks like I don't have to attach a copy of my degree in CEC application package. The only way immigration officer could find it is in form IMM5669E, section 8, personal history. If I write 2009/09 to 2013/11 study at university of alberta and 2013/05 to present work at XXXX, they might be able to find it.

In my opinion, you can write month/date of your last semester was done as the period of your education. Technically, your study is done when you obtain all the required credits. Ceremony is just a ceremony. It doesn't mean your study will be done at the time of your graduation ceremony.

At this time (since January 2013), date of graduation is not one of the relevant criteria. As long as you were not full-time student, and working with authorization (he PGWP), the experience should be counted.
