Hello,

I just gathered my 1560 hours of work in Canada, but during the year I took 2 weeks of unpaid vacation. One in spring and one in winter. There were also times when I worked under 30 hours per week and the missing days were not paid as I had previously used my paid sick days.
Do I still fall under the category of 'continuous' work?

Thanks, and if I wanted the Federal Skilled Workers Programme, would I fall under 'continuous'

For the Federal Skilled Workers Programme you need a foreign work experience; the one you have from Canada doesn't count. As long as you can prove that you actually have worked for these 1560 hours for a Canadian employer, you will be fine for CEC.

This is not necessarily correct. You need to have 1 year (52 weeks) of full-time experience or the equivalent in part-time work (1560 hours, which by definition takes more than one year to achieve). Some people think if they work 1560 hours in 8 months they qualify, which is not correct.

Yeah, you totally right! My bad, sorry for any confusion I might have caused.

How many weeks did you work that were full time? (30 or more hours per week).

Also, if you were paid an hourly wage instead of a salary, did you have 4% vacation pay included in each paycheck? Assuming your 2 weeks of "unpaid" vacation were the only 2 weeks of vacation you had, then you can count those two weeks as paid, and therefore counts as employment.

I'm on an hourly wage. I had 2 weeks of paid vacation in the spring. However, during that same holiday, I took a third one that was unpaid. And in December I took another unpaid vacation.
So, would those 2 unpaid weeks disqualify me for "continuous" work?

As previously stated, there is no requirement for "Continuous" work in Canada. However, you cannot count those 2 weeks of unpaid leave toward your work experience.
