Hi folks,

Wanted to understand how this 1 year eligibility is worked out. I am reaching my 1 year soon but have taken about 3 week paid vacation in the past and am planning to take about 1 week soon. Also have taken 2-3 sick days.

I work 40 hrs/week.

How do they factor the 1 year??

Thanks in advance.

They factor one year based on your reference letter which says date from 1st day till letter is written (check the format)..all paid vacations
and sickd days are taken in account

Hello ,
do u have any sample format for reference letter which i can show to my employer to give them an idea of what I m expecting.

Also i have another doubt.I took an unpaid leave for 5 weeks (travelled to home country) .But I dont think my company will mention that in the reference letter. will the CIC be able to find that out?

Thanks

If you took 5 weeks of unpaid leave then you need to work an additional 5 weeks before you can qualify to apply for CEC. Otherwise you're risking a refusal.

So how does the 40hr/wk work? I believe they factor in the no. of hours worked and not the actual days.

Am i wrong?

A 30 hour week is considered full time.
Anything over this is not counted (to stop people working 60 hour weeks for 6 months and claiming eligibility).
Paid vacation is included in the experience count as long as it's reasonable - CIC feels 2 weeks is reasonable per year. I took nearly 4 and was fine - it's just my company is more generous than cic :-)

The easiest way to avoid doubt is to factor in a coupe of extra weeks rather than apply right on the day of eligibility
