I want to apply to SAIT, Calgary but I can't decide between a 1 year Post-Graduate Diploma, or a 2 year degree. I know that I'll get a 1 year PGWP for 1 year diploma and a 3 year PGWP for a 2 year degree course. I've heard that it's difficult to get PR if you have a 1 year PGWP.

If I get the 1 year PGWP, can I get it extended later if I get a stable job?

I've done my B.Tech in India.
My WES Evaluation was: 3.3 GPA (B+).
IELTS Score: 8.5 (R9, L9, S8, W7.5).

Finally, if I apply for the January intake now, when can I expect a reply from the college about my status, because, if accepted, I wanted to go there a few months in advance?

The two year program is far better.

It's extremely difficult to extend a PGWP. Your employer needs to get an approved LMIA to do this - and most employers aren't willing to go through the expense and trouble to get one.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm going to go with the 2 year program now.

Also, once I graduate, and get a job, can I apply for PR then? I heard something about the PNP program and how it's supposed to be quite helpful.
