Hello all,

Has anyone had any success on being granted PR through EE with 1 year schooling and 1 year work exp in Canada? My BiL’s CRS calculator says he should be getting 468 granted that he averages 7 on IELTS and completed a 1 yr program.

Just a little worried about timeline cause of covid. I think CIC only grants you 9 months of PGWP after graduation.

Also, the canadian work exp, does it have to be the same industry he’s studying or can it be something else as long as its in Canada and under the NOC.

Thank you!

It's a pretty risky plan and not recommended. Best plan is to study for 2 years so that you qualify for a 3 year PGWP.

Your work experience does not have to be in the same industry but does have to be in a NOC A, B or 0 role. With only a 1 year work permit, there's a risky it will take time to secure a full time job in a skilled occupation and you'll run out of time on the PGWP before you get a year of work experience.

The points won't be an issue, the 1 year experience will.
