Hi everyone! My boyfriend has applied for a visitor visa from Macedonia (Vienna Office). The application was submitted on April 11th. On April 12th he received a letter for biometrics and on April 15th he submitted his biometrics. The processing time for applications from Macedonia through the Vienna office is currently 11 days. We are on day 12. Please share your timeline if you don't mind!

Application step
Review of eligibility: We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
Review of medical results: You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.
Review of additional documents: We do not need additional documents.
Interview: You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics: We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes. (This was never updated to show that they actually do need biometrics even after biometrics were submitted)
Background check: We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Times are just estimates.
There are definitely many applications that go over the processing times but saying it is only an estimate would be incorrect. On the CIC website it states "This processing time tells you how long it took us to process most complete applications, in the past." So I would assume most complete applications would be processed within this time frame..

An application can be complete true as submitted by an applicant but there are other things that can influence the result such as a background check which can go beyond any published time so just have to be patient given the processing time is not a commitment.

Unless you assume that "most" complete applications took exactly the timeframe quoted on IRCC's site, this number is by necessity an average. And it is a rolling average for most complete application, which you can use to estimate when your application was processed.

Those numbers on the website are occasionally updated, and the website will say how frequently. For context, China's TRV processing time last week went from 42 days to 28. So someone could reasonably estimate that a TRV application from China would take around 28-42 days.

Also, one day past the time in which "most" applications were processed is hardly a delay worth writing home about; Canada had two federal holidays this past week which would undoubtedly have impacted your friend's TRV application.

Thank you for your response.
