Hi and Happy New Year!

I am a Canadian citizen (immigrated there in 1990) and my son has dual British and Canadian citizen (through descent - me). We live in London UK and he's attending private primary education here. I would like us to move back to Canada - possibly Montreal - once I get my wife's papers. Neither of the parents have attended primary education in English. We are thinking to register him for a private English in Montreal (grade 3 onwards) but are not sure if he will have to switch to French in Grade 7. Can you please let me know if we're OK with that?

Many thanks,

Hintertuxer

Hi,
Yes, your son can study in any private English school of your choice that not require the Quebec English certificate eligibility (there are some private schools that require this certificate because they are partially subsidized by the government). He can remain in English schools as long as you pay for it.
In my case when we arrived here in Montreal 10 years ago from another Canadian province we were shocked that they "force" my son to study in French but after all this years I consider this experience as a positive change. My son now is fluent in 3 languages :)
