Hi All, I have a question regarding to the birth place issue. My eCopr recorded my place of birth is the name of the province, I guess it automatically used the info on my passport because my country's passport only shows province on Bio page. But when I apply PR, I stated place of birth as the city because the imm0008 form requested city or town name. I don't know why the copr didn't use the city name I entered. Now I'm going to apply for the citizenship, and the online form requests the city or town for the place of birth section. However, I read the instructions for cit0002 form which is the paper application form, it stated as such

"Write your place of birth, including the city/town and country
  • Note, if your city, town, or country or territory of birth is indicated in your passport or your travel document, please record it as it appears in the document"
So, I am really confused now.
Should I write down the city name into the online citizenship application form, just like I did on the imm0008 form? (That's what I intend to do because it makes the most sense to me based on the online form)
Or, should I strictly copy the info from the passport and copr, like the paper form's instructions stated (ie. the province name), into the place of birth section in the online form, even though the blank requests a city name?

Thank you everyone in advance!!!

Use both province and city. And country.
Thank you for your advice, but the form actually just has 2 slots, one is for city/town, and the other is for country. So, there is no room for filling in both province and city as you suggested. What should I do now?

Use province and city for city/town.

Since the online field specifically asks for a city or town, I would enter the actual city of birth and select the country in the separate country field. I would not combine the province and city unless the field clearly allows it.

Because your passport and eCOPR show only the province, you could attach a short letter of explanation stating that the citizenship form requested the city, while your passport identifies only the province. Include both names in the letter and explain that they refer to the same place of birth. That is clearer than forcing information into a field that asks specifically for a city or town.
