Hi, please help. I want to study in Calgary for 1 year with 2 courses simultaneously
1. digital marketing either in Bow college or SAIT (I think both institutions accept international student)

2. School of natural nutrition- they dont accept international student but told me to ask immigration if they’ll allow me to study with them if I have a student visa at Bow or SAIT

So Im wondering if I can study at the Nutrition school if I have a study permit at Bow or SAIT.

They said they had students study with them prior to 2023 with work permit only but they dont know the current situation now if immigration will allow.

Hope anyone can help!

You can only study at the school on your study permit but is the school of natural nutrition even a DLI? If program is less than 6 months then you don't need a study permit.

From my understanding, your study permit would normally be issued based on your acceptance to a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) such as Bow Valley College or SAIT. As long as you maintain your enrollment and comply with the conditions of your study permit, you may be able to take additional courses outside your primary program.

However, the key question is whether the School of Natural Nutrition's program would be considered an eligible secondary course of study for someone holding a study permit tied to a DLI. Immigration rules changed in recent years, and what was possible before 2023 may not necessarily apply today.

I would recommend:

  1. Confirming that Bow Valley College or SAIT is a DLI and obtaining your study permit through them.
  2. Contacting IRCC directly through their web form or call centre and describing your exact situation.
  3. Asking the School of Natural Nutrition whether their program is part-time, online, or considered vocational training, as this can affect the answer.
If anyone here has recently studied at a non-DLI institution while holding a study permit for a DLI program, their experience would be very helpful to hear.

Good luck with your studies!
