I resubmit cos they sent the file once again saying they couldnt calculate the physical presence before i became PR. Unfortunately i was on implied status for 3 yrs sept 11 2029 till 21 july 2022. and since we count last years i had to now resubmit with explanation and extra documents to prove i was here legally and never left the country. Landlord letter, CBSA travel history.

2025 april to december 2025 not working
2025 march 1 month work
Jan 2025 to feb 2025 no work
Nov 2024 to dec 2024
Oct 2024 started course
(ongoing till present)
Jan 2023 till october 2024 unemployed.
Dec 2022 till jan 2023 unemployed.

If i took social assistance any period of year should i mention or leave as unemployed.

I have ongoing course oct 2024 till present .the other activities over lap .
Is this the way to fill without gap

I tried AI to answer your query. Please see below, but don't rely on it 100%.

For the Canadian citizenship application (CIT 0002), the goal is to show a complete history with no gaps during the eligibility period. Overlapping activities are allowed, especially for studies and work.

For your situation, you can list it like this:
FromToActivityStatus
Jan 2026PresentEmployed at [Employer Name]Working
Oct 2024PresentStudying at [School Name/Course]Student
Apr 2025Dec 2025UnemployedUnemployed
Mar 2025Mar 2025Employed at [Employer Name]Working
Jan 2025Feb 2025UnemployedUnemployed
Nov 2024Dec 2024UnemployedUnemployed
Jan 2023Oct 2024UnemployedUnemployed
Dec 2022Jan 2023UnemployedUnemployed
A few important points:

  • Your course from Oct 2024 to present can overlap with:

    • unemployment periods

    • part-time or full-time work

  • That overlap is completely acceptable.

  • IRCC mainly wants to see what you were doing and that there are no unexplained gaps.
Regarding social assistance:

  • Usually, you do not need to specifically write “social assistance recipient.”

  • You can simply write:

    • “Unemployed”

    • “Seeking employment”

    • “At home”

  • Citizenship forms are focused more on your activities/residence history, not welfare status.
You only need to disclose social assistance if a specific question directly asks about it (the activity section does not).
One thing to fix:

  • “Jan 2023 till October 2024 unemployed” already covers Nov 2024?
So make sure dates do not accidentally duplicate or skip months.
A cleaner version would probably be:
FromToActivity
Jan 2026PresentWorking
Oct 2024PresentStudent
Apr 2025Dec 2025Unemployed
Mar 2025Mar 2025Working
Jan 2025Feb 2025Unemployed
Jan 2023Dec 2024Unemployed
That would already remove gaps.
You can also add short descriptions like:

  • “Unemployed – seeking work”

  • “Student – online course”

  • “Caregiver at home”

All are acceptable as long as the timeline is continuous.
