Hi,
My application submitted July 2024, it is stuck because of family application and my wife's background check and Prohibitions are still in progress.
Have anyone here tried to split up the application from a family application so that at least 1 gets completed ? any suggestions here and anyone in similar status ?

I am in a similar situation. I submitted a webform a couple of months ago asking ircc to unlink my application from my wife’s application and provided supporting docs why I would need my application to be processed faster. Never got a response.

Hello, i am still waiting for an update. No updates since May 3rd. I reached out to the MP again and they IRCC on my behalf and were told to reach out again in 6 weeks if there is no updates. I have requested my ATIP notes today. Does anyone know how long it takes to get this information? Also i was given a tracking number, how do i track this request?
If it's CBSA ATIP it will take a month.
IRCC ATIP I have mixed experience. Sometimes I get it in a month sometimes much longer.

Same.. our MP emailed us yesterday with an update that there is No Update
Cbsa is still enquiring or investigating or ai don't know what are they doing.. but my husband's background and prohibition is still pending.. he has very good job offer that requires canadian citizenship :(

Try applying for urgent processing and give proof of employment requiring citizenship

Is the job in Canada or with a Canadian government entity?

No its across the border. We told during interview that our job is pending but officer said she can't do anything abour BG and Prohibition so we have to wait

Even if they could do something, I wouldn't expect them to change status to urgent based on a job with no connection to Canada.

In January, I submitted a web form requesting urgent processing of my application for both academic and professional reasons. From a professional standpoint, my current role with a Canadian company requires frequent travel. The Canadian citizenship/passport would facilitate this.

Later on, I also requested that IRCC delink my application from my spouse’s application.

I have not received any response to either of these requests.

Unfortunately esp about the de-linking.

But on the first point: while I don't know of any detailed explanation of the policy for 'urgent processing', they do make clear such cases are 'exceptional.' I think in practice this means for jobs that legally require Canadian citizenship, and this is very, very few jobs. (And I'd assume and hope that they don't give a damn about jobs abroad, unless for eg Canadian government, for which some jobs - abroad - do require citizenship).

Again, this is require - not whether it's more convenient to travel, etc. (I'm sympathetic personally - my spouse is in the same situation, both employment and convenience of frequent travel). 'Facilitate' is not the same as requirement.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...adian-citizenship/adult-minor/how/urgent.html

They say on this page only if you need it to 'apply for a job', or to keep it. But most seem to interpret this to mean apply/keep a job in Canada or connected to Canada - and for the most part, witihn Canada, employers are not entitled to discriminate or require citizenship in order to be employed. Put differently, PRs usually can't be discriminated against by employers. The exceptions are largely the governments themselves (I'm not as clear about provinces, actually) - and while the federal government can prefer citizens, it's been policy since 2021 to treat citizens and PRs equally for public service jobs.

https://www.canada.ca/en/public-ser...ants-and-external-appointments-2017-2023.html

Outside sources who work on immigration make this explicit, that the urgent treatment is only for jobs that legally require citizenship.
https://immigration.ca/how-to-quali...ng-for-your-canadian-citizenship-application/

I believe there may still be carve-outs for some specific things like security clearance-requiring jobs, national security positions, etc., and it is definitely the case that they can require citizenship for jobs that require postings (not just travel) abroad.

Anyway, all that said: my point is to repeat that for the most part, it is most likely that IRCC will NOT treat most requests 'for employment reasons' as exceptional unless they are jobs in Canada - and by presumption, most jobs in Canada do NOT require citizenship (over PR status) because it's not legal to do so (at least as far as I understand things).

[Let's admit that some employers still may prefer citizens even if they're not legally allowed to do so - but the citizenship process is not the way to address that.]

Hey guys, i already received my ATIP notes. It was very quick. I am not sure how to make sense of this. Is someone able to give me some guidance as to what i should look for??
You got ATIP notes from CBSA or IRCC?

Look for the location status... And then a section on background verification where you can see RCMP etc. I am guessing you're stuck in security clearance that's why you are still pending from Dec 2024 AOR

How long did it take? They ignored my last application (admittedly I forgot to include my citizenship app number) now the second one is taking 20 days

Location Says: Grant Clearance Pending. There is a due date of April 26, not sure what that means. Office says CPC Sydney It also says prohibition snot started with a due date of December 2025. So i guess the due dates don't mean anything. It also mentions criminality is passed. Under security its says Type: Security clearance and then nothing else after that. I am not sure if this is from IRCC or CBSA. Nothing is redacted at all. Not sure what to make of any of this.
Grant clearance pending means it is pending clearance from security screening.... Its not in ircc hands but with CSIS.

Due date April 26 means that ircc will open the application on April 26. If they've received clearance from CSIS by that time you'll move forward otherwise a new date will be entered when ircc will check back.

Since you cannot see anything under security clearance the notes are from ircc which Redacts this information or keep it blank. Get notes from cbsa and you'll see the full picture.

*For CBSA GCMS Use this process*

https://atip-aiprp.tbs-sct.gc.ca/

In this make an account and select CBSA and then select the following options, chose *both* of these options

1. Immigration file – Security update
2. Immigration file – GCMS record

u can track the request on the dashboard ...
This is free
