I received similar email, but bit different. I contacted the consulate visa team by email for personal reason. They told me that I am RTD holder and my appointment confirmation issued country shouldn’t say canada , so they changed it to my origin nationality . Do you why this happened? When we fill appointment form, there is question that RTD isssued country. So, we selected canada. That why. You can fix it easily.

I'm on canada PR and I'm giving up my H1B visa this month end from my US employer as I'm moving to canada for good, but I need a visiting visa (B1B2) to the states as my baby is with the pediatrician in US. I live in border city (detroit and windsor)
Any process for that?

You need another plan. It may take over a year to get an appointment for an interview for your B1/B2. Also you may also lose your insurance coverage if you are no longer living and working in the US.

Hey I also applied with my RTD no pr did they ask you pr card, I also refused 2 visit visa when I was back home before 13 years
My US visa update
My visa refused under 214(b)
I guess I did to mistakest or misunderstanding with my proof of status. The first is when I arrive the front desk Indian woman ask me my RTD and proof of status. Then I gave NOD with RTD then she see my work permit on my hand and said work permit, I tried to explain to her that I am convenience refuge not temporary work permit holder, but she said no because most applicant was Indian with work and study permit . I thought I should explain to officer but he didn’t asked me my status. When I reached the visa officer, I handed him rtd and work permit as she gave me. The first question was what do you work? I feel he recognized me as temporary work permit holder. The second was when he asked me relative in US I mentioned my 3 sisters I for got my mom. He wasn’t comfortable about my relative in US.
Finally he said OUR RULE IS STRICT and handed me refusal letter. Don’t be shy to correct them with respect. My heart knows there was misunderstanding but I shy to explain.

Visa was approved. Just normal questions on where you are going? If I have any family? And extra questions for me as I had a student visa in the past.

Sorry about your experience. I dont have my PR yet and i was asked my work permit as well and what i do for work i believe those are standard questions not anything out of the ordinary or as you said recognising you as a temporary worker (You are wrong).AS someone with a Canadian refugee travel document you can either have a PR card or Work permit. And you cant honestly say you forgot your mom is in the US. Those officers have a lot of information on you before your interview and when you ommit such vital information you give them no other choice.

Actually, I noticed a lots of people got refused. I only noticed two older women get approved. It’s already happened. I recommend to protected person to apply with pr card, specially if someone has big ties in us it will be west of money.

I had an interview today and got approved. I am with RTD without PR. I got asked 3 simple questions: how long have I been in Canada, my plan in US and if I work.

When I did my and tell to officer that my mom and my 3 sisters live in us, he gave me refusal letter immediately
I'm not sure I've gotten the full picture of your situation, but I suspect that your situation might be uniquely different from others.

Based on https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...us-b1-b2-visa-questions.842149/#post-11082046 and https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...us-b1-b2-visa-questions.842149/#post-11082259 it seems that you a) have a history of being refused tourist visas from the US for quite some time back (both in Canada and from your origin country) and b) that you became an RFD holder after entering Canada as a visitor.

You note here https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...b2-visa-questions.842149/page-5#post-11135948 that generally the chances seem better once the RTD holder has PR. However even that's not a guarantee, as the officer will still want to check and make sure that you have a stable job and are working and don't have particularly strong ties to the US (they wanna make sure you'll leave).

Considering how things are looking lately (see https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/24/canadian-mother-detention-warns-immigrants and https://improbable.com/2026/03/10/t...s-moving-to-europe-after-35-years-in-the-usa/ if you haven't been following the news), I'm not sure what the draw is anyways.
