Can PR visa expiry (COPR) be extended if I can’t travel before expiry?

Hi everyone,


I have a question regarding my Canada PR process.


I’ve received my PR visa / COPR, and the expiry date is in June. Due to some personal circumstances, I may not be able to travel to Canada before this expiry date.


Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is it possible to request an extension from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for the PR visa validity or landing date?


If yes:

• What is the process to request it?
• Do they generally approve such requests?
• What kind of reasons are considered valid?

Any guidance or personal experiences would really help.

Didn’t your sponsor aka your wife have a baby and you were desperately trying to get there to support her just a little while back ?

Hi,
I’m from India, working full-time as a Data Engineer. My wife (Canadian PR) is pregnant and living alone in Canada. I applied for a visitor visa to support her, but it was refused twice under 179(b)

I have provided:

Approved sabbatical leave
Strong financial/property ties
Elderly dependent mother in India
Doctor’s letter, employer letter and salary details
Marriage Certificate

I genuinely intend to return after supporting my wife post-delivery.


Any advice or success stories on similar reapplications would really help.

What pray tell could be so important to override this ?

Extensions aren't granted. If you fail to land by the expiry date, you'll have to start the entire application process again from scratch.

Hi Yes, that was me, i didnt get visiting visa at that time,so my wife came to india after my baby is born , but later got PR, now i have some other some other concerns due to which i was thinking to stay here for some time.

Well you’ll have to make time or you’ll be starting the process from scratch

You can always do a soft landing and go back for a short time. Also, you don't have a PR yet, you just have a CoPR - you only get a PR once you land.

You are a failed refugee, you are begging for H&C right now. Where you are from, you don't even have accessible toilets, you don't even have basic hygiene - and, a literal beggar like you is calling someone else a "fraud" and "dirty", ironic! And, my country is Canada now. You can cope harder with that beggar. Marking you ignore and moving on!
