Hello All
Current work permit extension's processing time is 256 days which is abt 8.5 months. That's too long.
When should we extend our open work permit? I have a year left. But the main problems for us are:
1. Employers do not like short term validity which is less than 2 years. They prefer more longer term validity candidates. Now economy is so bad. You will get hard time finding new jobs if you get laid off in the middle of your work permit 2 years duration.
2. Banks do not like work permit holders who has less than 1 year work permit validity. Banks prefer people who have at least 1 year of work permit validity. They will not offer you any credit cards or borrowing options if your work permit is less than 1 year. Banking is fine. They even accepts people who are on visitor visas for opening bank accounts. but RBC rejects. RBC doesnt like refugees. When I was initially given work permit and brown papers and went to few RBC branches, they refuse me to open bank accounts. I didnt have SIN too since I was new (that's why I dun have any relationship with RBC. They should support refugees too!).
How are you guys solving these issues? Any authorities please watching this see our refugees life
