1. All required documents are listed on the OCI website as well as BLS website. They don't ask for anything they have not specified, the submitter just has to read the requirements thoroughly.
2. OCI Toronto requires just the declaration you surrendered them and the form is in their list of required documents.
3. Address proof should be anything that contains your current address, is not one of the items they have said no to, and matches the address you are entering in your OCI application form. Your photo ID should be fine, they need any government issued document. (For more context, a lease agreement of hydro bill with your address is not govt issued hence they do not accept those as proofs).

You do not have to upload more documents besides what they have asked for on the OCI website, but you'll need a self-attested printout of all the required documents to submit to BLS. OCI was probably the most straightforward of everything I've had to go to them for, provided you follow their asks to the T.

This was my list -

BLS appointment letter (hard copy or soft copy to show at door)
Online application form printout
Surrender Certificate
Surrendered i.e., last held Indian passport (front & back pages)
Citizenship certificate
Canadian passport
Professional Details - I used employment confirmation letter which contained my start date with the employer and job title
eCOPR
Voter/Ration card Declaration
Address proof
Spouse's current passport - my application was on basis of my Indian origin only, but I provided this as my current marital status is not updated on my surrendered Indian passport, plus I got married in Canada
Registered marriage certificate - for same reason as above

Hello guys, in the OCI application there is a question that has anyone in your family applied or had OCI card?
What would be the date ? Actual Application date OR Date of issue?
And what’s the application location? I applied in brampton. So Brampton or Toronto?
 
I applied OCI for my minor kid last week at BLS Toronto.
Got an early morning appointment and was done fairly fast!

Followed the docs from the website in the following order:

  1. Appointment Confirmation
  2. Checklist
  3. First 3 pages of online application
  4. Canadian passport copy for kid - also carried original, which was returned after inspection
  5. COPR and PR copy of parents
  6. Both parents Driver License copy
  7. Birth certificate of kid copy
  8. NOC signed by parents
  9. Indian Passport of Parents copy
  10. Marriage Certificate copy
While I carried original documents of all the above, I was only asked for kid's Passport.

Date of submission Feb 4
Status on BLS site (as of Feb 7) Processing at Consulate General
Status on OCI tracker (as of Feb 7) Status: Under Process | The application is not acknowledged at the Mission / FRRO yet.

Question for those who completed their OCI process recently .. I submitted my documents to BLS Toronto on Jan 17, and the OCI website shows application date as Jan 29. How long should I expect the whole process to take and receive my OCI card?
 
Hello everyone. On this forum after a long time. Thank you for any help with my question:

I applied for OCI in Toronto with BLS in April 2024, got it and traveled once to India between Aug-Oct 2024. No issues.

I'm now seeing that for new applications as of November 2024 need to upload proof of surrendering voter ID. This requirement was not part of my checklist.

I have my voter ID card, although my name is no longer on the voter ID list. I checked using my EPIC number and State name on the Voter Rolls website. My parents told the election workers when they came to refresh the rolls that I was no longer a citizen.

I will be travelling to India for good in April. What should I do in order to ensure there is no misunderstanding and to properly surrender this voter card (referencing an inactive EPIC no.) to the authorities?

Nope, you dont need to prove, for new applications, one need to submit self attested declaration that you surrendered it.
 
Hello everyone.. for OCI application on part B for question
"has anyone applied or granted OCI in family”

what would be the applied date? (Issue date or actual date when applied)

And what would be the location? (Toronto or Brampton if applied at BLS Brampton).

And for the NOC of minor
Should the parents sign on photos as well?
