Wow though, when I did mine last year, AOR took 10 days. This time it's my girlfriend's turn and things seem to have changed so much in just 12 months.

unfortunately the process got way longer than last year. The waiting and anticipation is brutal

Do I renew my PR card to be safe?

PR card renewal is optional as it is needed only for entering back into Canada in case of travel. So your citizenship application will not get impacted.

But as we never know if any emergency occurs and we may need to travel to home country, it would be good to have a valid one always.
