Hello,

Anybody knows if PSW can still apply for NB PR programs like NB skilled worker stream? I'm aware that some jobs are still not eligible for some PNP programs as listed in the Immigration of New Brunswick website but PSW appears to be not part of those lists. Also I can't find any article or information regarding freezing any PR pathways for PSW in IRCC.

Hope someone can shed light on this.

Thanks

Home Care Pilot program is frozen...was announced a few weeks ago.

As for NB PNP, you can enter the pool if eligible with your job offer. NB doesn't post what NOCs are selected.

Thanks for responding but going back to my concern Home care pilot doesn't seem to cover all PSW like NOC 33102 (Nurse Aide /PSA or PSW).

I saw this explanation earlier:

The primary NOC 2021 code for Personal Support Workers (PSWs) in home care, private households, or agencies is 44101 (Home support workers, caregivers and related occupations). If employed in a hospital or nursing home setting, the code may be 33102 (Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates).

Key Details on PSW NOC Codes (2021 Version):
  • NOC 44101 (Home Support Worker/Caregiver): Applies to workers providing personal care in the client's residence, including bathing, feeding, and light housekeeping.
  • NOC 33102 (Nurse Aide/Patient Service Associate):Applies to PSWs working in institutional settings like hospitals or long-term care facilities, providing nursing-related support
  • TEER Category: 44101 is generally considered a TEER 4 occupation (secondary school required), while 33102 is TEER 3 (college or training required).

Also yes I agree NB don't post what NOC's selected but they listed the ones that they will not entertain like cooks, bakers, or accounting jobs but not under PSW. So I assume that PSW if you're under the NOC 33102, you can still apply or submit an EOI in an NB program stream. This is what I'm trying to check from others if they know someone applied or be on the same boat at the moment.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks again

You match your job duties to the NOC. Home Care Pilot was for NOCS 44101/00. You can submit a profile with your job offer if you are eligible for one of the streams. I don't know your background. You probably have done this but have employer read through the webpage to ensure their eligibility.

It's for my friend. I'm encouraging her to go for a PSW program or get a certificate to qualify for a job under NOC 33102. Right now she's on an open work permit but it will expire on 2027 and she's very worried since her current job is not qualified for any PNP programs here in NB. Nyhow, thanks for your prompt response :).

So she would need a study permit then to get a certificate, and a job offer too.
