Hi all! I had a quick question about the citizenship application process

For "During your 5-year eligibility period, did you have a valid temporary resident status before becoming a permanent resident?"

I was an international student and also held a co-op work permit during my studies. Should the co-op work permit be listed separately, and if so, under which status (e.g., Temporary Foreign Worker, International Student or Temporary Resident Permit Holder)? Is a brief explanation or Letter of Explanation recommended?

Thank you for your help.

You must list your study permit days and your PGWP days only!

Hi everyone! This forum helped so much during our PR process. Hoping it will be the same for citizenship (easier I hope ). IRCC says it’s only processing applications / sending AORs for those received on September 19 of last year, so will try to just forget about the process for a bit so I don’t stress. Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone,
I’ve started my application, but I have some questions about the physical presence calculation and my status history. My timeline is below:

Timeline
  • May 2021: Came to Canada as a student
  • December 24, 2021: Completed my program, applied for PGWP
  • December 25, 2021: Received AOR and went into implied status.
  • April 2022: Received PGWP approval (1 year work permit only, expiration in April 2023)
  • February 2023: Received PR invitation and applied for PR and a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) at the same time.
  • June 2023: Became a Permanent Resident
  • June 2024: Received a response for my BOWP stating that the file was closed since I had already received PR

My question
When completing my status history for the eligibility period, should I answer “Yes” to the question:
“Did you apply to extend your status?”

If I select “Yes” and enter the date I received the IRCC letter (June 2024), I get an error saying:
“The date of your extension cannot exceed the date you received your PR status.”

What should I do in this situation?
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Enter the date until you received your COPR
