Canada passport, no oci, no surrender certificate. Can I apply e-visa to travel to India?

Situations:
1. Canada citizenship certificate, passport applied (under process). Can I apply to surrender Indian passport during this process?
2. Canadian passport holder, Indian passport surrender certificate in process. Can I apply for e-visa for India? If yes, do I need surrender certificate at immigration in India or should be good to go?
3. If yes to question 2, can I apply OCI in India?
4. Can I get e-visa to India, surrender passport there? Later apply OCI also in India?

1. You need the passport.
2. You don't need surrender certificate for e-visa
nor you need at immigration
3-4 you can surrender your passport in India but need to be on entry visa to apply for OCI. You cannot do that on evisa.

Has anyone here recently applied for surrendering an Indian passport pls?

I have a question regarding the updated process. Now we are required to upload the photograph and signature online, and once the form is printed, it already includes the ARN number along with the digital photo and signature.

If that’s the case, why do we still need to send the physical passport sized photo to the BLS centre?
