Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some feedback from people who have been through Express Entry or are familiar with PR applications.

I recently received an ITA, with a CRS score of 402, including 120 points for education (one Bachelor’s degree of more than three years).

I hold a university degree evaluated by WES as a Bachelor’s, as well as a technical diploma. In my initial EE profile, I listed the technical diploma as post-secondary while waiting for a second assessment (CES), although my CRS education score has always remained at 120 points.

When completing my PR application, I declared my education strictly according to the WES report. This creates a slight discrepancy between my EE profile and my PR application, which I’ve explained in a Letter of Explanation.

In your opinion, could this be an issue, even though no extra CRS points were ever claimed?

Thanks a lot to anyone willing to share their thoughts or experience. It would really help put my mind at ease.

Hey, I think you're totally fine here. The key thing IRCC cares about is whether you claimed CRS points you weren't entitled to. You've been claiming 120 points the whole time (for your Bachelor's), and that hasn't changed.

You listed the technical diploma in your EE profile while waiting for the CES assessment, but you never claimed extra points for it. When you completed your PR application, you declared only what WES assessed (your Bachelor's), which is exactly right.

The fact that you included a Letter of Explanation is the smart move. IRCC officers can see your profile history, so they'll see the diploma was listed. But since you explained why (waiting for second assessment) and you never claimed points for it, that shows good faith. Officers deal with situations like this all the time.

Bottom line: you didn't inflate your CRS score, and you declared your education according to your actual ECA. The discrepancy is explained in your LoE, and you have documentation to back up what you're claiming.

I think you're going to be fine. IRCC is way more concerned about people who claim credentials they don't have or try to hide CRS score changes after getting an ITA. You've done neither.
