Hi everyone,

I live in Alberta with my wife and child, but I work in Ontario on a rotational basis. I fly there every 6 weeks and have been working for the same Ontario employer for 2 years.

I’m planning to apply for PR through OINP by myself, with my wife marked as non-accompanying. Later I want to sponsor my wife and child after getting PR.

We have an Express Entry profile with 504 CRS points, but it’s not enough right now.

I can move to Ontario, rent a room from a colleague, switch my license, and get a health card, but my family will keep living in Alberta.

Is this acceptable for OINP? Do I need to move my family too, or is it fine if I apply alone and sponsor them later?

Thank you.

I can apply under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream.
My wife is on an Open Work Permit, and our child has a Visitor Record.
So this is a non EE stream and assume your OINP score and NOC have been selected. When were you nominated to apply for PR. Because PR processing is 2 years or more. Read the instructions but need to show intention to live in Ontario. Don't need to live the in provice. Wife may lose status depending on when her permit is up. They don't have to move.

If not nominated what is your NOC and OINP score? Region? Education?
