Hello all, I am sponsoring a dependent child and the application is being processed in South Africa, Pretoria. Medicals and Biometrics were marked "completed" on May 8, 2025. Since then I have not heard back from them. I have sent emails every month following up and I'm told "applications are treated in the order they were received". Is this normal? Is someone else experiencing the same? It coming up to a year since the application submitted.

2025? How did you obtain PR?

Many Africans offices have longer than average processing times so just normal processing. You can order GCMS notes to ensure there are no other issues.
is this new? I sponsored my other child three years ago. The whole process was 5 and half months.

During the height of COVID there were less applications being processed so that is why you may have had such fast processing time Family reunification was also prioritized. Think the 5 month processing is the abnormal processing time not the current one.

Hi,

I am already a PR and my child was later born outside of Canada (in USA). After my wife's course, we have relocated to Canada and I have recently applied PR for my child and did his medicals yesterday. He is just 23 months old and doesn't talk yet. Because of this, the physician marked abnormal and reasoned 'Developmental delay' for 'Mental and cognitive status ' and 'Intellectual ability'. Also, the vision test couldn't be done as they just do it with recognising and saying alphabets which he doesn't pronounce yet.

Could you please guide me on what will happen here? By the way, the application is inside Canada as we are already inside.

Thanks in advance!

Did you and your wife meet RO when you applied?

Did you and your spouse meet the residency obligation for PR? When did you both get PR and how much time have you spent in Canada in the past 5 years?
Thanks for the clarification. Both of us got PR in the last 2 years and will meet the residency obligation within the 5 years of obtaining PR.
