Hi everyone,

Hi everyone,
I applied for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), and on August 20, 2025, I received my acknowledgement letter from IRCC confirming that my application was submitted.
Since then, I’ve been waiting for a decision. In the meantime, I received a job offer. The only issue is that they require me to have the actual work permit in hand before I can start working.
My question is:
Is there any way to expedite the work permit process because of a job offer?
Has anyone here had success requesting faster processing, or is it just a matter of waiting?
Are there any interim solutions that might allow me to start work while I wait?

Any advice or experiences would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance!

No way to expedite. You can show them proof of extension with extension letter. And IRCC site that states you can work while waiting for PGWP (if you applied with a valid study permit).

Thanks for the info. Yes, I applied for my PGWP while my study permit was still valid, and I have the acknowledgement/extension letter from IRCC. I’ll show that to my employer, along with the IRCC guidance that allows me to work while waiting.
The only issue is that my employer needs at least 1 year of work permit validity, but my acknowledgement letter only shows authorisation until February 2026.

You can work past February 2026 or until a decision is made.

Yes, I understand that I can work past February 2026 or until a decision is made. The challenge is that my employer specifically requires the actual work permit document, not just the acknowledgment letter. I’m mainly looking to see if there’s any pathway to get the work permit issued sooner, or if I just have to wait.

You cannot expedite it as you are on an open work permit that doesn't require a job offer. Having a job offer will not get it processed any faster. Everyone wants fast processing but you can check current processing times to give you an idea.
